The Fitness & Performance Journal, seeks to broadcast the scientific
and academic production, searching, predominantly, to increase the
publication of original researches’ reports realized in the
Health and Sciences area, especially the ones which involve the
human movement. Bibliographical reviews and essays are published
by invitation of the Editor only.
Its objective will include researches in basic sciences, clinical
cases, and effectiveness of the diagnosis and of therapeutic techniques,
besides studies related to the behavior, epidemic and educational
aspects of the medicine and of the human movement. It is indispensable
that the works are unpublished and have not been sent simultaneously
to other journals
It is recommended that, before the preparation of the originals,
the authors consult “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts
Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical
Publication“ (www.icmje.org) and “International Committee
of Medical Journal Editors Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts
Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Sample References“
(www.nim.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html).
1. To the analysis, which will be done in double-blind man's system
(peer review), the work should be submitted at www.fpjournal.org.br,
followed by the author's letter defining the type of work (original,
essay, revision, updating, case report etc.), taking the responsibility
for the content of the article, declaring to be the same original
and not being submitted to other journals. The article can be submitted
for evaluation in one of the three official languages of the magazine:
Portuguese, English or Spanish.
2. The whole content of the article is the authors' whole responsibility.
However, all material published becomes property of Instituto crescer com Meta, that
starts to reserve the copyrights. Therefore, the material published
in the Fitness & Performance Journal will only be able to be
reproduced with a written permission granted by Instituto crescer com Meta. All the
authors of the article should sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement,
available at www.fpjournal.org.br/en_direitos_autorais.php,
which will go into effect starting from the date of acceptation
of the work.
3. The articles, after the initial selection realized by the Editor,
will be sent for two members of the Editorial Council, for analysis.
In up to 30 days these two opinion givers will present their decision
that can be: “approved”, “approved
with corrections” or “refused”.
If there is any variance in the opinions, the article will be sent
for a third opinion giver.
4. The title-page of the article it should contain: the title of
the work, objective and concise, however, explaining the theme appropriately;
the authors' full name, with their registration numbers in Professional
Councils, their electronic addresses and their telephones; identification
of the institutions where act; indication of financings related
to the work or scholarship granted to the authors; and indication
of the ethical precautions taken in the case of experimental-empiric
work.
5. Soon after, the Abstracts are presented in the three official
languages of the journal (English, Portuguese and Spanish, in this
order), with 1,000 to 1,200 characters each one (not counting spaces),
in a sole paragraph, containing explicitly the sections Introduction,
Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion and Conclusion. Each Abstract should
be preceded by the title in the corresponding language. It is necessary
the identification from three to five keywords (describers), necessarily
recognized in the database of the Health Sciences Describers (http://decs.bvs.br/I/homepagei.htm).
6. The article must contain the same sections of the Abstract (Introduction,
Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion and Conclusion), and may also to
contain the Acknowledgments section. After, it displays the References
section. The section Materials and Methods should be initiated with
the declaration of approval of the study by the Ethics Committee,
including the protocol number.
7. The articles should be prepared in a text editor of Word for
Windows (or compatible), font Arial 12, being used space 1.5 between
the lines and spacing 0, Before and After. The formatting of the
paper should be A4, with margins superior and inferior of 3 cm and
lateral margins of 2 cm. The originals should contain, at the most,
60,000 characters (counting spaces), including illustrations and
references and excluding the title page and the summaries. To count
the characters, consult the option “Count Words…”
in the item of the menu “Tools”.
8. The references should come as they appear in the text, numbered
in agreement with Vancouver's Group norms (ICMJE - International
Committee of Medical Journal Editors - www.icmje.org). The titles
of the journals must be wrote in the official abbreviated name,
in agreement with the lists of the indexed journals Index Medicus
(www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=journals)
and Portal of Scientific Magazines in Health Sciences (http://portal.revistas.bvs.br).
The references will only appear numbered in the text, written in
bold, after the last word to be referenced, without previous space.
In the case of more than a reference in the same passage of the
text, the references will be written one by one, without spaces
between them, separated by commas, and never defining intervals
of numbering split with and hyphen. In the specific case of the
reference number appears after a number, will put a space before
the reference.
9. Tables, illustrations, graphs and frames should be numbered with
Arabic numbers and presented after the References section, in order
they appear in the text. The graphics should be in “xls”,
necessarily accompanied by the table with the data generated. The
images should be saved in files “tif” or “jpg”,
with minimum graphic definition of 300 dpi. Photographs are not
accepted. Also to be sent, regardless of language used, all images
in the three official languages.
10. After the final approval of the original, the authors should
send the versions of the article, in full, in other two languages
of the journal. Only the articles that count with the versions in
the three languages will be published.
11. The authors should fill out and send to Instituto crescer com Meta, through registered
mail, the form of “Potential Broadcasting Conflict of Interests”,
available at www.fpjournal.org.br/en_conflito_de_interesses.php.
In this form, any potential conflict of interests related to the
submitted article should be explicited, according to the determination
of the Brazilian National Agency of Sanitary Surveillance (RDC 102/2000)
and of the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine (Resolution 1595/2000),
or the laws of the country where the work occurred. This demand
seeks to inform the editors, reviewers and readers the professional
and/or financial relationship (as sponsoring or joining venture)
with financial agents related to the pharmaceutical products or
equipments involved in the work, which can, theoretically, influence
the interpretations and conclusions of the same. The declaration
of existence or not of conflict of interests will also be in the
begin of Materials and Methods section.
12. The authors can request the “non-sending” to one
or two members of the Editorial Council, in case of having a conflict
of interests.
13. The realization of experiments involving human beings must,
obligatorily, follow the Resolution nº 196/96 of Brazilian
National Council of Health, available at http://conselho.saude.gov.br/docs/resolucoes/reso196de96.doc,
including the signature of an informed consent term and the protection
of the volunteers' privacy. The supporting document of the approval
of the research in the competent Committee of Ethics of the Research
should be sent to Instituto crescer com Meta through registered mail.
14. The realization of experiments involving animals should follow
the specific Brazilian resolutions (Law nº 6638 of May 8, 1979
and Decree nº 24645 of July 10, 1934) or the laws of the country
where the work occurred.
15. To the main author of the article will be sent the article in
“pdf” format and the Acceptance Letter.
